The background

South West Communications Group provides Lakesmere with a flexible broadband agreement that suits its transient business needs.

Lakesmere is one of the construction industry’s leading specialist contractors providing a quality design and installation service for external buildings including roofs, walls, glazing, architectural features and ancillaries. It is has 4 offices in England and Scotland with its head office based in Winchester, Hampshire.

The challenge

The nature of Lakesmere’s expertise means that its workforce is spread across multiple sites in different locations within the UK. Whilst its engineers may be on-site for weeks, months or years at a time they always require the same communications services for each job.

Communication with these transient locations is complicated by the fact that most of them are greenfield sites that have no existing communications infrastructure in place yet all sites require email connectivity to the head office.

Lakesmere was running up huge bills for broadband connections, having to commit to 12-month minimum broadband contracts that were often left largely unused as jobs came to an end before the broadband contract expired as well as in some cases paying additional costs and suffering long delays for digging up land to lay new cables.

Lakesmere needed a more flexible option that would not only reduce their broadband expenditure but would also remove the stress involved in setting up, and cancelling broadband services to its constantly changing sites.
