Glossary of terms
Telephone systems - These can be provided for both single site and multi-site businesses with a range of features including call recording, call queuing, automatic call distribution (ACD), voicemail (with email integration) and software that enables users to log all incoming and outgoing calls.
Call routing - By routing your calls through South West Communications Group you can make savings on your ongoing call costs. By taking advantage of their Broadband and PSTN/ISDN line rental managed service, a single itemised per second bill can be provided along with a single point of contact for all bill queries. 24/7 fault reporting is supported by South West Communications Group’s fraud team that monitors for any unusual call activity. Non-geographical numbers, such as 0845, can also be provided.
Data networks - The wiring infrastructure, hardware and software are designed to safely send and receive data to, from and throughout businesses of all sizes. These networks can also be used to bring together voice and data on one cost-effective platform - known as IP telephony.
IP audit - A data network test session provided by South West Communications Group to ascertain whether a business is able to efficiently and cost effectively merge their voice and data networks.
Data Centre services - The data and server storage facility, based at South West Communication Group’s headquarters, is protected from the effects of fire, power failure, heat and security threats and is supported by a complete back-up service and skilled maintenance technicians.
Data backup - Called storeiP, this service provides reliable and secure offsite backup for companies of all sizes without the need for the purchase, change, transportation, cataloguing and storage of tapes.
Internet - Our Data Centre can ensure resilience, security and reliability of your Internet service through email scanning and virus checking, as well as looking after your server and maintaining the speed of your service through a dedicated connection.
WiFi hotspots - South West Communications Group’s surfiT service provides a fast and easy wireless means of access to the Internet and email that can in turn create an extra revenue stream for businesses and be a valuable service to their customers.
Point to point microwave - A secure, reliable and flexible wireless link to transmit both voice and data between two sites of up to 10 miles apart (subject to site survey) to provide a cost effective alternative to leased lines.
Business continuity - The Data Centre provides a complete range of back-up services and solutions to protect a business in the event of a breakdown, disaster or security threat.
Project management - Step by step guidance to ensure projects are correctly delivered on time and within budget whatever the size and complexity of the solution.
Support and maintenance - Our highly skilled Service Desk will take full responsibility for any problem and will either solve them remotely or will manage any third parties who may be involved as well as utilising its team of 40 field engineers that is spread across the country to ensure a quick response.
Training - Professional trainers provide courses for all users and systems managers either on site or in the South West Communications Group’s dedicated training suites. Refresher courses are also available.
Finance - A flexible range of competitive rental and lease purchase options are available direct from South West Communications Group. These can be tailored to accommodate upgrades and a business’s seasonal patterns.
Customer zone - An area dedicated to our customers complete with user guides, information on training courses, case studies, factsheets and brochures, while NetView allows you to manage your billing account.
