South West Communications Group’s Data Centre provides the perfect backup facility for any system failure or data loss.

South West Communications Group created its state-of-the-art Data Centre to provide dedicated server hosting and premium quality Internet services protected by the highest levels of security.

The Data Centre is classified as a tier-4 networked facility and has a highly resilient infrastructure with no single point of failure. It is built to cutting edge standards to provide the best in class for security, environment, power, fire prevention and network connectivity.

South West Communications Group’s Data Centre services have been designed to prevent hackers from compromising its customers’ data. South West Communications Group fully understands that data is critical to all businesses and, as a natural part of its commitment, undertakes security audits through an external party to ensure that the data held is never compromised.

Resilience and availability are of the utmost importance and with this in mind, all components within the Data Centre have been duplicated. This includes redundant firewalls, servers, power supplies, switches, routers, management systems and network services. The building is connected to six different network carriers each with diversely routed cables into different parts of the building.

Internet bandwidth is closely monitored and South West Communications Group has the capacity to provide any level of bandwidth its customers may require. All the data held by South West Communications Group is backed up to its Portsmouth office to give clients double the resilience.

South West Communications Group’s 24-hour monitoring enables us to rectify potential problems quickly and, in many cases, before they actually manifest themselves at user level.

If a disaster should occur - If fire, flooding or disaster affect one of our clients, there are several solutions that South West Communications Group provide that will protected against or minimise data loss and downtime.

One solution is to have built-in, real-time resilience which will ensure the least amount of down-time possible. This is achieved by using a high speed link between South West Communications Group’s Data Centre and our client’s office to facilitate the immediate duplication of client’s data onto our servers situated in the Data Centre. These servers can be connected to the Internet so that in the event of a disaster, clients can access their data and work from alternative sites almost immediately.

Other businesses have opted to rent rack space in the Data Centre so a third party can deliver duplicate servers that have been primed for immediate use in the event of a disaster. By having the rack space and a connection already in place, clients can be up and running again between 8 and 48 hours. In addition, South West Communications Group can also provide backup equipment, such as mass storage units, and the bandwidth required to give businesses access to the Internet.
