Managed Internet access - South West Communications Group can provide fully managed, resilient access to the Internet. Our Data Centre’s multiple Internet connections ensure that your websites are always available. Internet bandwidth is available in 256Kbps–1000Mbps per connection. There is no data transfer charge per month so bandwidth can be utilised constantly at full capacity without additional charges. Browser-based bandwidth utilisation statistics are provided.
As a fully managed service, the bandwidth is allowed to peak above the set bandwidth. Customers can opt for 95% percentile charging or predefined bursting for optimum flexibility.
95% percentile charging - With 95% percentile charging, clients are able to order a pre-agreed “fixed” monthly bandwidth level but are always able to burst above this level as and when required. Clients will be charged an excess for the data that they use over and above their contracted amount less the top 5%.
To calculate usage charges, a reading is taken from the network connection every five minutes. At the end of the month, the top 5% (which is approximately 36 hours of a 30-day billing cycle) of readings are removed and the next highest reading is the final chargeable figure.
This eliminates all the highest level spikes often seen in bandwidth graphs and by using this method, clients benefit by getting the highest bandwidth usage for 36 hours each month free of charge. Customers are able to choose to put restrictions on bandwidth availability and we can send them email alerts if customers exceed predefined thresholds.
Flexible bursting - We also offer customers with seasonal trends, and who therefore have significant bursting requirements at specific times of the year, the ability to do just that. This means that they are able to minimise expenditure throughout the year but have the flexibility to have pre agreed bursting to whatever level required on a month by month basis creating a pay-as-you-go solution.
Centralised Internet access - We are also able to operate as a central hub to deliver centralised Internet access to multiple offices. Moreover, where business drivers require, we can provide hosted web and email servers at our Data Centre to facilitate a secure, resilient environment to ensure full access to the web at all times meaning that your website will never be offline.
Anti-virus & anti-spam services - South West Communications Group offers anti-virus, anti-spam, content filtering and image control services at cloud level. This means that your bandwidth and network will not be affected by unwanted mail. The effect of preventing unwanted traffic from reaching your Internet connections can be dramatic with one customer recently reporting a drop of 83% in traffic after implementing an anti-spam solution.
