Server hosting
South West Communications Group can provide businesses with rack space to store their own servers or managed server equipment in their safe and secure Data Centre.
South West Communications Group’s Data Centre uses industry-leading Cisco, Dell and HP equipment as the basis for its managed server hosting service infrastructure. As a Cisco Systems business partner with highly skilled and certified staff, South West Communications Group is able to provide the very latest technology offerings to its customers, including managed servers that utilise Microsoft Windows and Linux-based platforms.
Relocating servers or websites can be a daunting task for the less experienced business but for South West Communications Group, this is a day to day task and any stress normally associated with this type of project is completely eliminated. South West Communications Group provides full project management as part of its implementation process which includes liaising with IT and computer suppliers to ensure a high quality service is consistently delivered with the minimum of disruption.
For businesses that host their servers in the Data Centre, South West Communications Group provides a log on facility for use by customers while they are in the Data Centre workshop, which enables them to access each of their servers.
The Data Centre is physically isolated from the rest of the South West Communications Group headquarters with only qualified engineers and authorised management permitted physical access to the server equipment. Public access is strictly forbidden and is only allowed within common areas under strict, secure supervision. All entrances and common areas are monitored 24 hours a day, seven days a week via closed-circuit cameras.
South West Communications Group’s fire prevention system has been specifically designed to exacting requirements and differs from other data centres that employ FM200 and fire suppression type protection. The Data Centre’s system constantly monitors each individual cabinet and will detect any electrical induced fault before it has had time to develop into a combustible fire. Most fire suppression systems flood a room with gas and drop the power to the entire site in the event of a potential fire. The Data Centre’s system will only isolate the power to the particular cabinet where the electrically induced fault has occurred, therefore protecting the integrity and availability of the rest of the Data Centre equipment.
The Data Centre is totally self-sufficient with all cabinets individually powered with uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) maintaining a smooth and clean supply. In addition, South West Communications Group has a standby power generator capable of supporting the entire facility in the event of an extended power outage.

Vitualization - South West Communications Group’s managed hosting service includes a virtualization option enabling customers to run multiple operating systems on a single piece of hardware. Instead of using separate servers for a Linux website, a SQL database and an Exchange server for example, customers can run them all from one server and keep capital costs down. Depending on the type of application and the usage profile, consolidation ratios of 10:1 or more can be achieved.

South West Communications Group has used its expertise to design and install perfect hosting solutions for companies across the UK, including Landmark.
