Environmental policy
As a business, South West Communications Group is fully aware of the possible impacts that our activities could have upon the environment and our obligations to employees, the local community and other interested parties.
Therefore, we are committed to minimizing the environmental effects of our operations and to prevent pollution through continual improvement of our environmental performance.
In order to meet these objectives, we will:-

Minimise wastage and set environmental objectives in order to monitor success

Endeavour to conserve resources by reclamation, recycling and other appropriate means

Comply with all relevant environmental legislation, regulations and codes of practice which affect our business and continually develop our policy to meet any changes in the future

Ensure that employees are aware of the environmental policy, and be encouraged to contribute actively towards the improvement of such matters

Encourage all suppliers, customers, contractors and sub-contractors to adopt similar environmental standards by using products with the lowest environmental impact where reasonably practical

Assess the environmental impact before undertaking major capital projects. Wherever possible, technology will be used to reduce pollution and waste, as well as to conserve resources

Make sure this environmental policy is understood and maintained. The policy will be available to interested stakeholders, employees and members of the public

Review the environmental policy on a regular basis
Environmental responsibilities are taken very seriously and South West Communications Group accepts defined responsibility for aspects of its environmental policy on site for:-

Ensuring that the objectives of the environmental policy are understood and observed by management and employees

Ensuring adequate arrangements and organisation are provided and operate efficiently to carry out the policy

Ensuring that adequate resources are available to meet the requirements of environmental legislation

Taking a direct interest in the environmental management programme

Review any environmental reports, whether written or verbal, taking action on any major issues.
Both management and employees are aware of their environmental responsibilities with the former ensuring awareness remains in South West Communications Group’s environmental policy remains a priority.
Managers will also ensure all machinery, equipment and substances are of as low a risk as is reasonably practicable to the environment, that everyone is aware of any environmental hazards in the department and that any hazards detrimental to the environment are properly reported and rectified promptly.
South West Communications Group’s employees are also actively encouraged to observe and conform to the environmental policy, to report any environmental hazard or defect, make suggestions for the improvement of the policy where appropriate and to assist, where required, in the investigation and monitoring of any environmental matters. All members of staff are also fully briefed on what to do should an emergency situation arise involving potentially hazardous substances.
